Scholarship & Bursary Information

Many community sponsored Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, participation in school activities, community involvement, financial need, post-secondary/career plans, or a combination the above. Students should consult Student Services about their eligibility, and to obtain application forms before deadline dates.  Yearly updated lists of community sponsored scholarships are available from Student Services.

R. F. STAPLES STAFF SCHOLARSHIP:  ($500)
Awarded to a student entering post-secondary studies based on academic and extra-curricular achievements.

 

RUTHERFORD SCHOLARSHIPS: (up to $2500)
Awarded to students beginning post-secondary studies in any area based on academic achievement in any one or all grade 10, 11, and 12.  Eligibility criteria include:

Grade 10

  • Average 75% or higher in five subjects:
    • English 10 or 13
    • Two of the following
      • Social Studies 10
      • Mathematics 10
      • A language other than English at the Grade-10 level
      • Science 10
      • Any other additional subjects at the Grade-10 level including the above subjects combined introductory courses.

Grade 11

  • Average 75% or higher in five subjects:
    • English 20, 23, or Literature/Communications 21
    • Two of the following:
      • Social studies 20
      • Mathematics 20
      • Chemistry 20
      • Physics 20
      • Biology 20
      • A language other than English at the Grade-11 level
      • Any other two other additional subjects at the Grade-11 level including the above subjects and combined intermediate courses.

Grade 12

  • Average 75% or higher in five subjects:
    • English 30
    • Four of the following
      • Social studies 30
      • Mathematics 30
      • Mathematics 31
      • Chemistry 30
      • Physics 30
      • Biology 30
      • A language other than English at the Grade-12 level
      • Any two other five-credit courses at the Grade 12 level including those listed above and combined advanced C.T.S. courses.
