School Start Up

Dear R.F. Staples and Westlock Outreach Students and Families,

We are less than a week away from the start of the school year. On behalf of the staff, I would like to express how excited we are to have students return.

We will be following the return to school plan outlined by the Alberta Government which was reviewed by our Board of Trustees and Senior Administration. For more detailed information follow these links.

  1. Alberta Education’s 20201-2022 School Year Plan

Staggered Entry

Tue. Aug. 31 – Grades 7, 11, and 12

Wed. Sep. 1 – Grades 8, 9, and 10 – some students have also been contacted by Mrs. Roop to start this day too.

To welcome our grade 7’s and 10’s on their first day we will be providing a hot dog, pop, and bag of chips for them.

Open House

Wed. Sep 1. From 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, teachers will be in their classrooms to meet families. An informal meeting will be held in the Main Gym for Grade 7 families at 6:00 pm and for grade 10 families at 6:30 pm. If you are new to the area you are welcome to attend at either time.

Health and Safety

Masks – Following the guidelines from the Alberta Government students are only required to wear a mask while riding the bus. This includes curricular or extracurricular travel. It is a personal choice for students and staff to wear a mask while at school and in classes.

Using hand sanitizer entering the school and changing classrooms will still be expected as will cleaning desks between classes.

Students and staff are required to adhere to Alberta Health’s Daily Checklist and stay home if they have core symptoms related to COVID-19.

Schedules

All students and families can see class schedules on Powerschool. High school students are able to make changes to their schedules by making an appointment with the counselors in student services or with the principal. Please note that with ADLC closing down, there is less flexibility with scheduling courses.

Junior high school students may not see their schedule until Monday, August 30. On the first day of classes, class lists are posted for JH and there will be plenty of staff to help students find their way.
