R.F. Staples has made some changes to Junior High options for next year. The ideas that guided decisions are presented below. Changes have also been made to the timetable to ensure that students have balance between academics and options. The change will accommodate daily math instruction that is part of the numeracy strategy. The changes limited the range of options that can be offered.

Guiding principles for the R.F. Staples Junior High Options Program:
1) The outcomes should be different from core courses.
2) Options should encourage students to use different parts of their brains and try new things.
3) Junior High options should prepare students for Senior High elective programs.
4) Options are an opportunity for students to explore career opportunities.
