Senior High Cross-Country Running
“Running for the Health of it” 2016
The team philosophy of the R.F. Staples Cross Country running team is to experience the running world in a positive and non-competitive environment. We feel that this will lead towards a healthy lifestyle as students engage in this athletic and very social activity. Students will run in places and with competitors of all ages from 10-80. They experience the “rush” of participating in organized races. Times are recorded and places are given, however, we focus on the invigorating experience of crossing the finish line. Students learn about equipment, nutrition, various races and fun runs. Weekly runs will be held on the days on the schedule below. For our town runs we will meet by the main gym doors at 3:45 and we should be back at school by 5:00pm. This year, we will be attending three events in Edmonton and one at cross lake. The events (in Edmonton) are run through the Tech Shop and are titled the Frank McNamara Wednesday night Cross Country Series.
